May blog 2.0: The exodus...

How active are my students (in a productive sense)? That depends on which class we're talking about and how I define productivity.

This past year I've considered my students productive if they are working quietly and appear to be on task. Unfortunately, I've learned that being quiet and looking at your paper and/or writing things down does not mean that you are on task.

My old idea of productivity...

My new idea of productivity...
TPRS

Why the change? I hope to utilize TPRS (Total Physical Response Storytelling) in my Spanish class to get the kids to actively play a role in forming brain-body movement connections. Associating words and phrases with actions and images should help my students feel more connected to the content which should in turn keep them actively engaged in the material.
