Aaron Heit: Extremely Engaging and Insanely Insightful
This summer you challenged me to stray from my comfort zone (direct instruction) and try out different strategies in the classroom. I also struggled with issuing praise/rewards for behavior especially when students were simply doing what they were instructed to do. Towards the end of the summer I saw the benefits of balancing consequences with rewards since it got students to refocus and get back on task. Your lessons were by far the most engaging, and you have shown me that my energy can influence the energy in the classroom. Throughout this summer you also encouraged me to make a serious effort to be less stiff, to open up to my students, and to enjoy teaching my lessons. As I move on to my own classroom I will continue to try to improve in all of these areas. Thank you for constantly pushing me to grow and become a more effective instructor.
